The Business of Acting

In our regular session of classes we love to deep dive into the craft of acting, supporting you to become the best artists you can be. However for those of you who are/are becoming professional actors there is a whole other side of the game - "the business of acting". It can feel overwhelming - there is a lot to learn - but in this fun, information-packed afternoon together we're going to give you everything you need to navigate the business side of your career. Covering every aspect of your pro actor life, from representation to auditioning, from working on set to promoting your work, this workshop will give you the tools you need to: 
~ find (and keep) the right agent for you
~ get comfortable with the art of auditioning
~ have an awesome day on set, knowing everything you need to know to succeed in front of the camera 
~ market yourself as an actor in a way that feels good to you. 

We can't wait demystify all of it for you so you know what to expect as an actor as you embrace and explore the professional world of "show business".

​Robert Moloney & Julie Lynn Mortensen

WRAS founders/teachers and husband/wife duo Robert Moloney and Julie Lynn Mortensen are teaming up to teach this one. 

A graduate of Studio 58 in Vancouver, Robert offers decades of experience working as a professional actor, in theatres across Canada, and in film/tv/commercial productions around the world. As his students know, he has a funny and inspiring story for just about everything actor-related, and loves to humbly share his experience from the hundreds of stages and sets he has had the great joy and privilege to work on.

In her University years, Julie Lynn's father made her get a business degree on the side of her acting BFA, and although she resented him for it at the time, she must admit it's been a help. She's delighted to put this workshop together for you, to give you all the tools she has gained on her 20-year professional acting journey, from leads in feature films, to recurring TV roles, to great plays on local stages. She is passionate about helping you succeed, every step of the way.
